Delphian Gallery Open Call Winner 2024

Group Exhibition @ Unit 1 Gallery Workshop, London

Viv Moench alias vivmoe (b. 1992) resides and works in Coburg, Germany as an independent artist and self-taught painter. Studying and working within the fashion network of Berlin laid the groundwork for her aesthetic practice to follow her inner artistic vision. A pivotal moment led her to this enlightment as in 2021 she sat down at a piano and seemingly out of nowhere was able to play off handed.
Within vivmoe’s works, she expresses the shift in the sense of reality due to the sensory overload caused by digital culture. The nonstop flood of digital distractions often keeps us from truly experiencing the present, causing our memories of the past to become fragmented and unclear. She asks viewers to consider how influence and being absorbed online shape their lives, and how these factors can both clarify and confuse our understanding of the world around us.
Living in the post-internet era vivmoe primarily works with mixed media, such as oil and airbrush, using the Trompe-l’œil technique to underline her artistic vision of nothingness. It is a display of one particular question she is facing during her artistic practice: is the human mind capable of visualizing nothing?
